My Journey to Environmental Chemistry

I'm cross-posting here from my Cosmetic Chemistry Blog on Medium to share how I got started as an aspiring chemist, which is what led me to found CBAN when I was a sophomore in high school.

I've found that other girls become very interested in chemistry when we start talking about how chemicals are inherent in the consumer products we use. We assume they are safe for people and the planet, but that is not necessarily so.

There's a reason we have laws and regulations to protect consumers and the environment, but they don't always go far enough. Cosmetics is one area where there's been ongoing under-regulation and a history of unsafe ingredients. That's why we're working together to advocate for clean beauty through safe chemistry.
