WHAT
WE DO
The Clean Beauty Action Network is a grassroots, youth-led, nonprofit organization that empowers our generation to lead the charge in transforming the cosmetics industry into a safer, greener, and more ethical landscape through scientific research, public education, and advocacy.
PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
Did you know that the cosmetics we use don’t have to be verified as safe? People are rightly shocked and appalled that our cosmetic products have been found to include asbestos and other toxic chemicals and carcinogens. It makes no sense that products we trust to apply to our lips and skin do not need to be tested and verified as safe.
CBAN works to change this situation through the research, education and advocacy projects discussed below.
Legislative Watch
Social Media Influence
CBAN tracks legislation action that impacts beauty products, at the federal level, as well as at the local, state and international levels. This includes tracking regulatory action and rule-making. In doing so, CBAN engages in advocacy outreach to lawmakers and regulators to advance the Clean Beauty agenda.
Clean Beauty Pledge
The Clean Beauty Pledge is simple, and you can make a difference by taking the Pledge now so that the products you purchase will be safe for people and the planet because all ingredients are listed on the product label with a “Clean Beauty Pledge”:
CBAN leverages the vast social media presence and know-how of the youth generation to get the word out about Clean Beauty. Today's teenagers communicate and amplify each other's voices through the power of social media, and CBAN encourages youth to take action through their social media.
Hashtag Campaigns
CBAN leverages the social media savvy of the teen generation through hashtag campaigns. We do this through advocacy for specific legislation, along with our #cleanbeautypledge and #cleanbeautynow campaigns.
Chemistry Literature Reviews
Chemical analysis is an important part of understanding the potential environmental toxicity of ingredients in personal beauty products. We study the research to understand the potential toxins and environmental contaminants that can be present in the products that we use.
Policy White Papers
As part of our advocacy efforts, we analyze policy issues and publish white papers. We use these as part of our legislative outreach to lawmakers and regulators, and we also make available them for education efforts to promote public awareness.
